On November 3rd-5th the annual ZIKAction Consortium meeting will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Around 40 researchers, health professionals and project managers from partner organizations are planning to participate in the meeting which aims at overviewing the ongoing project studies and setting goals for the upcoming year.

On June 4th – 6th 2018 the ZIKAction team participated in the International Symposium on Zika virus held in Marseille, which provided the excellent opportunity to present the first results of the PAEDIATRIC ZIKV SPANISH COHORT (pedZIKAred). This initiative represents a significant contribution to the joint European effort to set up a preparedness platform against epidemics.

The 2^nd International Conference on Zika Virus and Aedes Related Infections was held June 14-17, 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia. Leading internationally recognized scientists and clinicians presented work predominantly related to Zika virus that spanned cutting edge basic, clinical and diagnostic research.

Joshua Anzinger, Head of the University of the West Indies Mona Lab in Kingston, Jamaica, was awarded the Best Poster by the Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease Journal during the 2nd international conference on Zika Virus

The four EU-funded ZIKA consortia participated and presented their research findings at the International Symposium on Zika Virus Research, held in Marseille, France, between 4 and 6 June 2018.

Registrations are now open for the international conference on Zika Virus to be held in Marseille, France, next June. The event – organized by the EU-funded ZIKAlliance project in collaboration with three other EU-funded Zika projects (ZikaPLAN, ZIKAction, and ZIKAVAX) and the European Society for Virology – will take place at the Faculty of Medicine La Timone.

In September 2015, the Central Hospital in Praia, the capital of Cabo Verde, reported the first case for Zika virus infection witch were confirmed by Institute Pasteur of Dakar (WHO reference laboratory).

Although active transmission of the Zika virus (ZIKV) has not been reported in Spain, large numbers of people travel between Spain and Latin American and Caribbean countries with high incidence and prevalence of infection in recent years.
