    ZIKAction Consortium meeting in Rio de Janeiro, 3-5 November, 2018

    On November 3rd-5th the annual ZIKAction Consortium meeting will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Around 40 researchers, health professionals and project managers from partner organizations are planning to participate in the meeting which aims at overviewing the ongoing project studies and setting goals for the upcoming year.

    Evidence for multiple sylvatic transmission cycles during the 2016-2017 yellow fever virus outbreak, Brazil

    Since December 2016, Brazil has experienced an unusually large outbreak of yellow fever (YF). Whether urban transmission may contribute to the extent of the outbreak is unclear. The objective of this study was to characterize YF virus (YFV) genomes and to identify spatial patterns to determine the distribution and origin of YF cases in Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, the most affected Brazilian states during the current YFV outbreak.

    Zika Virus Infection and Differential Diagnosis in a Cohort of HIV-Infected Patients

    Zika virus (ZIKV) emergence in South America revealed the lack of knowledge regarding clinical manifestations in HIV-infected individuals. We described the clinical characteristics, laboratory manifestations, differential diagnosis, and outcome of ZIKV infection in a large, single-center cohort of HIV-infected patients.

    Summary of the ZIKAction work at the Paediatric ZIKV Spanish Cohort (PedZIKARed). An article By Toni Soriano-Arandes

    On June 4th – 6th 2018 the ZIKAction team participated in the International Symposium on Zika virus held in Marseille, which provided the excellent opportunity to present the first results of the PAEDIATRIC ZIKV SPANISH COHORT (pedZIKAred). This initiative represents a significant contribution to the joint European effort to set up a preparedness platform against epidemics.
