We extend our hearty congratulations to Professor Celia Christie-Samuels, who on the National Heroes Day in Jamaica was conferred with the Jamaican 
national honour of Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD). Dr. Christie-Samuels, a paediatrician, Professor at University of West Indies and PI for Jamaican sites within the ZIKAction Project coordinated by Fondazione PENTA Onlus, was deservedly recognised for her outstanding contribution to public service and child health.
This is a tremendous achievement which acknowledges her years of outstanding and dedicated service in Paediatrics, advancing learning, creating knowledge and fostering innovation for the positive transformation of the Caribbean and the world. Her research interests include neonatology, adolescent medicine, clinical trials of drugs and vaccines aimed at preventing and treating infectious diseases; clinical and outcomes based research in HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
